Free Therapy in Wilmington NC

Free Treatment Wilmington, NC

Free Treatment in Wilmington, NC

We are proud to offer no-cost intensive trauma-focused therapy to people who reside in the Wilmington area, with a primary focus on high school and middle school students.  We understand how much a student’s life struggles can affect their studies.  Trauma and loss can cause school under-performance as well as behavioral issues such as class disruption, aggression, and isolation.  We help troubled students put their trauma behind them and move on with their lives.

Therapy intensives are scheduled between Monday and Friday.  We are aware that missing up to a week of school can be disruptive. However, our experience has been that the benefit far outweighs the cost, in that students who complete the treatment tend to be better able to focus on their school work and achieve their potential.

As therapist availability permits, no-cost intensive therapy may also be available to Wilmington area elementary students as well as adults.

We have extensive experience working with adolescents, children, and adults, including LGBTQ+ and BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color).

In this program we offer up to a week of intensive trauma-focused therapy, featuring Flash, EMDR, and/or PC.

To express your interest in receiving therapy through this grant-funded program, please email us or call us at 910-833-1550.  In addition, parents, community, and school staff members can call us at that number directly to learn more about the program to determine if their student is a good fit.  If you are already working with a therapist, we may ask your permission for us to consult with your therapist to ensure that together we are working in the best interest of our client.

Please note that we have limited capacity and can only accept those who meet program criteria.

What To Expect

1. The screening and intake process can take some time. We ask you some questions by phone, and also ask you to complete a questionnaire online. This enables us to determine whether or not you’re eligible and likely to benefit from the treatment program.

2. The treatment most often involves up to 5 consecutive days with up to 6 contact hours, e.g., Monday through Friday, 9-12 and 1-4 each day.  This treatment can be intense and difficult at times. And life-changing, in a good way.

3. Follow-up evaluation is done at 2 weeks post-treatment, and again at 3 months post-treatment. We want to know how you’re doing! Also, documenting the outcomes of our innovative intensive treatment approach will enable us to obtain further grant funding, so we can provide the service to others in the future.
