Based on the (included) book: Greenwald, R. (1999). Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) in child and adolescent psychotherapy. Northvale, NJ: Jason Aronson.
Description: This book guides readers through trauma-informed treatment – including the EMDR protocol – as it applies to children and adolescents. The author models the essential elements of skillful communication and demonstrates through engaging case examples and creative metaphors the art of working with children, adolescents, and their families. This book also offers specific tools for integrating EMDR into an overall trauma-informed treatment plan for children and adolescents with problem behaviors, post-traumatic stress, and other symptoms.
Note: Gaining competency in EMDR requires formal supervised training. However, any mental health professional can benefit from this program, which teaches about EMDR, emphasizes the overall trauma-informed treatment approach, and teaches many skills which will be immediately applicable, even without EMDR training.
